Public Speaking Essentials

Public Speaking Essentials is a dynamic student incursion where students learn the essential skills of public speaking.  We go beyond telling students to use eye contact or less note usage but show students how to be dynamic presenters.   Students are equipped with public speaking skills taught by professional public speakers.  This incursion includes ‘Growth Mindset to Public Speaking’ towards confident public speaking, taught by leading Communication Skills Specialist Elaine Doyle. When students are able to focus our thoughts, preparation and energy on the audience they develop into confident speakers who connect to their audiences as professional speakers do.  The learning of this incursion goes far beyond the students next classroom oral presentation but equips the student with communication skills for life.

The outcomes of this workshop are:

  • Calm nerves when speaking to groups
  • Analyse the audience
  • Add clarity and focus to your point/message
  • Reduce reliance on notes
  • Learn techniques to build eye contact
  • Build into the writing and delivery of the speech, connection techniques to engage and influence.
