School run debating programmes that students will love!
Participants: Primary school teachers wanting to initiate a debating programme for their school to develop persuasive writing, persuasive speaking, team work and an introduction to secondary school debating. Targeted for debating programmes for year 5 & year 6 students
Full day 5 hours + 1 hour breaks (or half day option)
Debating for Primary Students workshop, you will learn how to build an engaging debating programme differentiated for your students. No debating experience necessary. You will gain skills in the Australia Asia style of debating used widely through out Victorian Secondary Schools to develop a debate programme for your school that builds confidence in persuasive speaking and mature thinking practices and also a great transition to secondary school activity.
Elaine will share with you her experience to ignite the love of debating for all students. Learn from her successful “Introduction to Debating” schools programme.
Participants will be encouraged to develop a debate network within this session to facilitate further sharing of ideas and practice debate opportunities between schools. Your facilitator Elaine Doyle is a Schools Debating Specialist, debate co-ordinator, adjudicator, member of DAV & DAV schools advisory board member, Elaine has introduced and rebuilt debate cultures in schools, developing a love of debating in students.
A hands on “how to” create a successful debate programme for your school, you will take from this professional development day:
